New Coating for Omega 3 Supplements

Tired of fish burp? So am I, sometimes its disgusting enough I will skip a day of vital omegas if I know I’m going to be meeting someone later in the day. Nothing can ruin a first impression like a potent gust of fish stink coming from the mouth.

This health blog talks about freezing your fish capsules, which I have done before, and it works to some degree. But when you need to take an omega 3 capsule in the middle of the day, and there’s no freezer nearby, you’re….up a creek without a fish pill.

But now they’ve come out with a new coating for the fish capsules. It takes longer to disolve, thus there’s no fish burp.

The casing is slightly more expensive, but that’s not too much of a problem when it comes to good health. The only trick is finding a good brand of fish oils that uses the new casing. I haven’t found one yet, but I hope to soon.

Finally, I’m on the paleo diet, which means even more fish than usual. I just can’t have bread with my fish, not that that’s much of a problem, because it was never all about the bread with me anyway.

Fish Oils are Still Hot!

Hey, guest blogger Nutsy McFadden here, just spinning the dish about the total awesomeness that is omega 3 vitamins!

Omega 3 fish oils are so powerful, they once brought a man back from the dead!

Actually, that’s not entirely true, but there is a unique case of a miner who was trapped under the earth with no food or water for several days. The minor had gone into a coma buy the time he could be pulled from the pit, and extensive life support systems were used just to keep the heart beating. The doctors expected mild to severe brain damage. The cure? Fish oils. One of the doctors gave the man several thousand times the regular dosage of Omega 3 fatty acids and the man came out of the coma within a few weeks! How’s that for awesome? Totally!

I take my fish capsules every day, and I’ve got washboard abs because of it. Practically the only other supplement I take is the Master Formula, which is equally as awesome.

If you’re looking for more vitamin information, get out there and google those bitches, becase fish oils are that important. Yay!

Flax Seed Oil

There’s a debate among the omega 3 community over the differences between typical salmon-source omega 3 fish oil supplements and other supplements like kelp or flax seed oil.

My opinion is that omega 3’s are omega 3’s no matter what way you take them. As long as there isn’t any mercury mixed in with your fish capsules, it doesn’t matter weather its salmon, flax seed, kelp, sardines, or any other source.

The one major difference between fish oil caps and flax seed caps is the smell. Many people don’t like the smell of fish oil vitamins because….well…..they smell like fish. Flax seed has an odd sort of smell, but its not as fishy. To get rid of the smell (either fish or flax seed), simply put your bottle of capsules in the freezer. The soft gel cap will harden and not break apart until the capsule has reached your lower intestine, thus no fish burp. Also, there are plenty of omega 3 fish oil supplements that are coated with a gel that cuts back the fishy smell.

Benefits of the Damage Control Master Formula

I’ve been so busy focusing on fish oils and omega 3’s, I haven’t even bothered with other supplementation.

This month I’ll be talking about the benefits of vitamins. Specifically, the benefits of multivitamins such as the Damage Control Master Formula.

Most multivitamins include the essentials (13 vitamins, and as many minerals) in enough dosage so that a person wouldn’t have a vitamin deficiency, so long as he/she stayed on the multivitamin. However, this is the bare minimum. In actuality, people need much stronger doses of many essentials to have much beneficial effect. We’re talking over 1000mg of vitamin C, or even 10,000% of some of the better B vitamins.

Beyond the essentials, there are a multitude of antioxidants and nutrients that can benefit the body that should be found in a good multi. The Damage Control Master Formula is one of the best multivitamins. It even contains CoQ10 for energy production, and Beta Glucan for the immune system.

Not just for the fishes…

Last month I gave a big long schpeil about the benefits of omega 3 vitamins in fishes.

I didn’t mean to be narrow minded in my post, I was just looking for some place to get started.

The simple fact of the matter is, there are many places one can find omega 3 benefits, it’s just fishes are a good one.

One of the most common places people get their omega 3s from is nuts. Most nuts have an assortment of these aminon acids (but skip the peanuts, they’re not even real nuts!). We’re talking almonds, pecans, and cashews, though I emphasize the almonds.

A simple life substitute to add omega 3s to the things you eat is to replace all your peanut butter with almond butter. It’s a tad more expensive, but it tastes ten times as good, and now you’re getting spoonfuls of amino acid glory rather than spoonfuls of cholesterol and heart attack.

Flax Seed oil also contains a wide variety of omegas (including 3, but also omega 6 and 9), so many people choose this as a supplement over fish oil, but to each his own.

While I’m here I should mention a couple posts on other blogs I’ve read. Vitamin information is a simple little post about the best antioxidants and what not. And this weight loss shake website, is so much more about nutrition than simply weight loss.

For the Fishes

Omega 3 Supplements. They taste horrible but they do so much good for your body.

Your body thrives off of Amino Acids. But there are some amino acids that your body does not make enough of in full doses. Omega 3, 6, and 9 amino acids are three of these, but the regular diet usually includes enough omega 6 and 9 for the normal body.

Omega 3’s are what the body can’t get enough of, and that’s what this blog is about.

Omega 3’s can be found in many foods, red meat, dark green veggies, and nuts. But the most common place to find omega 3’s is in fish.

Fish oil is an extremely potent source of omega 3 fatty acids, so most supplements are pure fish oil based.

The source of the fish oil isn’t entirely important as long as the processing is mercury free. But fresh, deep water fish are the preferred source for most top quality suppliers.

The ratio of EPA and DHA in an omega 3 supplement is the other important thing to look at when purchasing these capsules. A good ratio is 3 to 2 of EPA to DHA respectively.

More info on the “3’s” is forthecoming, I’ll try to update monthly, depending on when I get the time!
